Had such a terrific experience with Grace and the Sooda crew in CONVO 1. I wasn’t sure I was ready for CONVO 1directly after Hangeul; I thought I might need to study more. But, practice makes perfect and the small group setting, and Grace’s encouragement is an ideal environment to improve.
Grace’s Conversation 1 class was an absolute joy to experience, especially as a follow-up to her Hangeul class. She made the class incredibly welcoming and created a comfortable space for everyone to speak, always being patient and ensuring that each student had ample opportunity to practice. The environment that both Grace and Gi fostered made the experience not only supportive, but genuinely fun.
The course material is top quality, focusing on Korean phrases and sentences used in everyday situations rather than isolated vocabulary from a textbook. Grace even helps students craft their own sentences to better reflect their individual day-to-day experiences, making the learning process far more personal and directly applicable to real-life conversations.
By the end of the class, I was able to recognize significantly more vocabulary and sentence structures while watching Korean shows, and I even built up the confidence to order entirely in Korean. These classes quickly became the highlight of my week, something I looked forward to even more than the weekend. It truly was that enjoyable of an experience, and I can’t recommend it enough.
The class is perfect for people who are just starting their conversation journey for Korean. There are lesson plans with practice scenarios, vocabulary, grammar and more. The class size is a good size. Grace is clear and easy to understand. She spends the time to get to know her students and also answer all the questions. Being able to read Korean will definitely help as you will need to be able to read the scenarios however Grace helps everyone out so even if your reading skills are rusty you will be able to learn. As someone who has learned Korean in the past this was a great way to review some things and also get some subtle nuances that I never realized and start to get some more confidence with speaking.
Grace, you’re really an outstanding teacher. You make every class enjoyable and always find ways to push me to improve without ever making it feel stressful. I especially appreciate how comfortable you make it to try things out and learn from mistakes—no judgment at all. I’m genuinely thankful for that and really looking forward to continuing classes with you. Thanks so much for everything you do!
감사합니다!!
Really great class. Grace does a great job of teaching the fundamentals of korean grammar, vocabulary etc. She makes it so easy to learn. The class was paced based on the levels of the students. It helped me feel more comfortable utilizing korean. Overall a great curriculum and teacher! Grateful to have found a class that finally made me feel comfortable speaking Korean.
I took Grace's Conversation 1 class in July, and I can't recommend it enough! I had been doing lessons on different apps for over a year, and felt like I knew some basic rules, but fully panicked whenever I had to try and speak to my Korean in-laws. In the level 1 class, Grace creates an environment where you will quickly feel totally safe speaking and reading in front of others - no matter how much you might mess up. She explains things SO well, and always gives room for questions. And as a bonus, you'll probably make some new friends along the way. If you're debating the class - definitely do it!
